Works of art as well as functional.      La Plata Farms "On the Hoof" La Plata Farms will accept orders for breading stock and butcher lambs. Please contact us early in the year (we lamb the First of April) particularly if you are looking for a ram. Because we believe that lambs are just as important as wool, we select for large, fast growing, correct lambs. Wool is selected for production (pounds of wool per year), staple length, color and texture. Our mama ewes consistently lamb twins and triplets without assistance. Our ewe lambs are bred in their first years and always give us at least one lamb as a yearling (we sometimes get twins the first year out, a real bonus). A stringent health and record keeping program is followed and our flock has been closed for several years. By this we mean no other sheep are allowed into our flock either for breeding or boarding. We do show our fleeces and have many Champions and Reserve Champions to our credit. Because of our Closed flock policy, our animals are not shown, except under special circumstances. Call or write for ewe and ram statistics.    La Plata Farms Wool La Plata Farms has been providing premium fleeces to the hand spinning market for over 20 years! Meticulous management assures the perfect fleece for your special project. We concentrate on Navajo-Churro wool and Lincoln. Our Churros come in a rainbow of colors including the rare Red Mesa color (dark brownish red). Our Lincolns are white, black and steel blue. Because our wool is high in demand, we recommend you contact us by phone or mail and request samples in January or February, which I will send as soon as we shear. Fleeces are heavily skirted to insure that only the best wool goes to the hand spinner. We will sell as little as a pound or the whole fleece with prices ranging from $5.00 - 7.00 per pound.
